Snowmass Village doesn't close for the off-season all at once. Base Village and the Snowmass Mall close in stages over about five weeks, starting in late September and running into early November. The reopenings come bunched together right before Thanksgiving. That means the quietest stretch of the year isn't October. It's the window from November 1 to about November 20, after the last Viceroy restaurants close and before the first restaurants with fixed reopening dates come back.
GoSnowmass published its Fall 2026 list of seasonal closures and reopening dates on September 14, broken out by area. Sort that list by date instead of by area and it lays out a calendar for the next eight weeks. The same list also names a small group of businesses that stay open the whole time.
The Order Things Go Dark
Here's the restaurant side of the list, by closing date:
| Closing date | Restaurant | Area |
|---|---|---|
| Sept. 26 | The Edge at Timberline | Other |
| Sept. 27 | New Belgium Ranger Station, The Stew Pot | Mall |
| Sept. 27 | Crepe Therapy Cafe | Base Village |
| Sept. 28 | Slope & Hatch at The Collective | Base Village |
| Sept. 29 | JUS Snowmass | Base Village |
| Sept. 30 | Fuel Cafe | Mall |
| Oct. 1 | Grub Thai | Mall |
| Oct. 3 | Aurum Food & Wine, Montevino | Base Village |
| Oct. 3 | Venga Venga | Mall |
| Oct. 4 | Pinecreek Cookhouse | Other |
| Oct. 4 | Sundae Ice Cream | Base Village |
| Oct. 10 | Kenichi Snowmass | Base Village |
| Oct. 18 | The Lounge at Limelight | Base Village |
| Oct. 19 | Rock Island Oyster Bar & Grill | Mall |
| Oct. 24 | Gorsuch Ski Cafe | Mall |
| Oct. 25 | Après Deck, formerly Stark's Alpine Grill at the Viewline | Mall |
| Nov. 1 | Cafe V, Lift Line and Toro at the Viceroy | Base Village |
Base Village closes early and in big steps. Aurum and Montevino close on October 3, Kenichi a week later, and The Lounge at Limelight on October 18. After that, the only Base Village restaurants left on the list are the three at the Viceroy, which stay open until November 1. Base Village shops follow the same early pattern. Four Mountain Kids and the Four Mountain Sports rental and retail shops close today, October 4, and Ro + Fern closed on September 30.
The Mall closes more gradually. Grub Thai and Venga Venga close in the first days of October, but Rock Island, Gorsuch Ski Cafe and Après Deck stay open into the last two weeks of the month. Mall shops close over a similar spread. One Vibe closes October 1, Snowmass Sports today, the Four Mountain Sports Mall Shop and Pavilion on October 11, and Snowmass Trading Company on October 13.
Who Stays Open Straight Through
The list marks a short group of businesses as open all fall or all season. Most are in two places, the Mall and Snowmass Center.
Food and drink
- The Tavern, at the Mall, open through the fall season
- Zane's Tavern, at the Mall, open through the fall season
- The Daly Diner, open all season
- Taster's, open all season and closed on Thanksgiving Day
Groceries, supplies and errands
- Clark's Groceries, Ajax Supply and Sundance Liquor & Gifts at Snowmass Center, all open all season
- Daly Bottle & Grain Fine Food, Guapodog and Challenge Aspen at the Mall, open all season
- Christy Sports at the Mall, open all season with reduced hours
- TAC Fitness at One Snowmass East in Base Village, open all season, and Eye Pieces of Snowmass, open all season with possibly shorter hours
The Daly Diner's website lists breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. and lunch and dinner from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. The site also says hours may change during the off-season. GoSnowmass gives the same caution for the whole list. Many businesses close Mondays and Tuesdays this time of year, and hours can shift as reopening dates get closer.
Several Mall names have no dates on the list at all: Il Poggio, Heather's at the Stonebridge Inn, Snacfood, and Snowmass Lanes with 105 Pizza + Bowl. Smash & Dash Burger has a November 20 reopening date but no closing date. A blank on the list doesn't tell you whether a place is open, so call before heading over.
November 1 to November 20
After the Viceroy restaurants close on November 1, everything left open sits on the short lists above. The earliest exact reopening date on the list is November 20, when Grub Thai, Kenichi Snowmass and Smash & Dash Burger come back. Rock Island and JUS Snowmass are both listed as reopening "mid-November," so either could return inside that window. Neither has a set date.
A few other parts of village life change on the same schedule. The Game Lounge & Selfie Den at The Collective is closed for the off-season from September 28 through November 26. Alux Spalon in Base Village takes the shortest break on the list, closing November 2 and reopening November 9.
There's still a calendar with most restaurants closed, much of it on Sundays and weekday evenings.
- Snowmass Chapel's Fall Potluck Lunch & Learn meets October 25 and November 1, 8 and 15, from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Rev. Charis Caldwell leads a series called "From Pentecost to Post-Modernism." Each Sunday is a standalone workshop, and the chapel asks for an RSVP.
- Snowmass Chapel's High School Speaker Series runs October 25, November 1 and November 8, from 5 to 7 p.m., with games, food and a community member talking about their faith journey.
- The Snowmass Recreation Center has Advanced Indoor Pickleball from 8 to 11 a.m. and Basketball Open Play from 5:45 to 8:15 p.m. on November 2. Futsal Open Play Registration is November 5, from 5:30 to 8:15 p.m.
Anderson Ranch Arts Center keeps its visiting artists coming through the off-season. Serban Ionescu is in residence October 12 to 23, Heehyun Choi October 19 to 26, and James Casebere and Mona Cliff October 26 to November 6. Steven Yazzie follows November 9 to 20, and Bethany Collins November 12 to 16. The program includes studio visits, critiques and public lectures, though the Ranch hasn't posted a lecture date for each artist. The one fixed date before November is Spooktacular Creepy Crafts on Friday, October 30, from 3 to 5 p.m. It's free and includes studio trick-or-treating, crafts and treats, with a costume contest at 4:15.
The Roads and Trails During the Same Weeks
Construction on Brush Creek Road runs on nearly the same timeline. Phase 4 of the Brush Creek Road and Owl Creek Road roundabout began September 16. Owl Creek Road is closed to through traffic between Brush Creek Road and Chapel Curve until about October 19, and Highline Road is the detour. Emergency vehicles can still get through. According to the Town of Snowmass Village's September 9 update, the roundabout is still on schedule to finish November 15. So the detour should end around the same time Rock Island and Gorsuch Ski Cafe close, and the finished roundabout should open in the last quiet week before Thanksgiving.
On the trails, Pitkin County has announced that most of Sky Mountain Park will close to public access November 18 to 22, during fourth rifle season, when a limited area opens to elk hunters. The notice doesn't name which trails are affected. Winter wildlife closures follow. For the 2025–26 season, the town closed Rim Trail North, Seven Star, the Upper North Mesa Equestrian Trail and Viewline/Deadline from December 1 through May 15. Those are last season's dates, so check the town's notice for 2026–27 before planning a December hike.
Six Days of Reopenings
The reopenings come back faster than the closures went. Starting November 20, the restaurants on the list come back in quick order:
- Nov. 20: Grub Thai, Kenichi Snowmass, Smash & Dash Burger
- Nov. 21: Gorsuch Ski Cafe
- Nov. 23: Après Deck, plus Cafe V, Lift Line and Toro at the Viceroy
- Nov. 25: The Lounge at Limelight
- Nov. 26: Aurum Food & Wine, New Belgium Ranger Station, The Stew Pot, Crepe Therapy Cafe
- Nov. 27: Venga Venga
Most of the Mall and Base Village shops reopen in the same stretch. Snowmass Trading Company and One Vibe come back November 23, the Four Mountain Sports shops November 25 and 26, and Snowmass Sports and Incline Sports November 26. Aspen Snowmass has set November 26 as the projected opening day for both Snowmass and Aspen Mountain this season.
A few places open later than that. The Edge at Timberline reopens December 1, Pinecreek Cookhouse December 10, and Ro + Fern December 7. The Stonebridge Inn, home of Heather's, is scheduled to reopen in December after a renovation of all 93 rooms. On the mountain, the rebuilt Ullrhof reopens this winter with more than 600 seats. It's the first fully electric restaurant at Aspen Snowmass. Montevino, Slope & Hatch, Fuel Cafe and Sundae Ice Cream have closing dates on the list but no reopening dates yet. Check with each one before planning around a return.
